James Taylor's agreement with Hallmark allowed them the exclusive rights to sell the CD for 2 years (October 2004 through September 2006).  During the 2005 Christmas season, the CD was only available at select retail stores that carry Hallmark cards such as Kohls and Safeway.

On October 10, 2006 a revised version of the CD called James Taylor At Christmas will be available online and at retail.  This CD will be distributed by Sony, James Taylor's previous label, having released October Road in 2002.

The track listing for the new version includes: Winter Wonderland, Go Tell it on the Mountain, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Jingle Bells, Baby It's Cold Outside (a duet with Natalie Cole), The River, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, The Christmas Song, Some Children See Him, Who Comes This Night, In the Bleak Midwinter and Auld Lang Syne.
